History for Ojen Drink
Ojen (pronounced oh-hen) is an anise-based liqueur first produced in 1830 near the little hamlet of Ojén in southern Andalusia, Spain.
It’s sweeter and less alcoholic than absinthe, and it’s usually served over ice with seltzer and a splash of Peychaud’s bitters (not Angostura), according to Westfeldt.
Ingredients for Ojen Drink
- 2 oz ojen anise liqueur
- 1 dash Peychaud® bitters
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 oz water
Instructions for Ojen Drink
In a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes, combine the Ojen, peychaud bitters, sugar, and water. Shake well before straining into a cocktail glass and serving.
